Piano lessons
Yuanyuan Liu teaches pianists from age three through adulthood. Lessons are shaped around each student’s goals, whether they are discovering the piano, developing their artistry or preparing for a performance, audition or competition.
Teaching experience
With more than 13 years of experience, Yuanyuan previously taught at the Hartt School Community Division and the Suzuki Music Schools of Westport and Newtown in the United States. She is now based in Germany. She founded YuanYuanTanYue Piano Academy, where she developed individual and group instruction. Her students have earned competition prizes, and many have been admitted to leading universities in the United States.
Yuanyuan has served as chair of the jury for the 9th Steinway & Sons International Piano Competition and as a judge for the United States Open Music Competition, the Schubert Club of Fairfield County’s Young Musician Festival and the Concert Star International Classical Music Competition at Carnegie Hall. She has also served as Co-Chair of the Virtuoso Pianists Competition of the Hartford Music Teachers Alliance.
Teaching philosophy
Yuanyuan combines high expectations with warmth and encouragement. She helps students understand how a piece works, build reliable technique and express their own musical ideas. Because every student learns differently, she adapts her approach while encouraging curiosity, perseverance and independent thinking.
Her goal is to help students grow as musicians and develop a lasting relationship with music, whether they perform on stage or play for their own enjoyment.
